Hamas Says It is Ready for Immediate Gaza Ceasefire Talks
Mrirt — In a new development in Israel’s devastating genocide on Gaza, Hamas announced Friday evening that it will begin ceasefire negotiations with Israel immediately after receiving a new proposal from international mediators.
The Palestinian militant group said it completed internal discussions and consultations with other factions about the latest mediator’s proposal to reach a ceasefire in the war-torn Gaza.
“Hamas is fully prepared, with all seriousness, to immediately enter a new round of negotiations on the mechanism for implementing this framework,” the Palestinian group said in a statement according to Al Jazeera.
The announcement comes just days before Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will travel to Washington on Monday to meet with US President Donald Trump.
Trump says he is pushing for a ceasefire in Gaza, which has suffered devastating damage after nearly 21 months of genocidal assaults by the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF). However, the constant flow of money and arms backing that the US has provided as Israel’s closest ally sends an entirely different message.
The new proposal includes a 60-day truce period, with Hamas releasing half of the Israeli hostages still alive in exchange for Israel freeing Palestinian prisoners from its jails.
The genocide continues
Despite the diplomatic progress, the IOF continued their relentless genocidal campaign across the besieged enclave on Friday, carrying out more attacks on Palestinians scrambling to survive in the dire conditions.
Gaza’s Civil Defense reported that 52 Palestinians were murdered in airstrikes, bombing raids, and gunfire, including 11 people killed near humanitarian aid sites.
The genocide has left Gaza’s population facing a severe, inhumane situation with shortages of food, water, and medical supplies.
International aid organizations have struggled to deliver assistance to civilians trapped in the war zone.
Three days ago, reports surfaced that the IOF once again was shooting at people waiting for aid distribution at points managed by the US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) without warning. This has become a common occurrence, so much so that the IOF have even admitted they were instructed to do so to global media.
The ceasefire proposal represents the most significant diplomatic breakthrough in months of stalled negotiations, primarily delayed by the Israeli side.
Previous attempts to broker a lasting truce have collapsed over disagreements about prisoner exchanges, troop withdrawals, and reconstruction plans.
A groundbreaking report
A new report from the United Nations Special Rapporteur on human rights in the occupied Palestinian territory outlines how various corporations are supporting Israel’s displacement of Palestinians and military campaign in Gaza — actions that violate international law and are described in the report as genocidal.
The report, compiled by Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese and set to be formally presented at a press briefing in Geneva on Thursday, identifies 48 companies involved, including major US technology firms such as Microsoft, Amazon, and Alphabet Inc. — the parent company of Google.
The investigation also produced a database of over 1,000 corporate entities linked to these activities.
“[Israel’s] indefinite occupation has become an ideal environment for weapons manufacturers and Big Tech firms — marked by high demand, minimal regulation, and no accountability — allowing private investors and institutions, both public and private, to profit without restraint,” Albanese asserts in the report.
